Trail and Garden Creation

Through our years, we have worked to create and maintain our trails. This involved the initial work to clear the land to the creation of our boardwalk and a variety of special areas like:

  • Pollinator garden

  • Dry shade garden

  • Medicinal plant garden showcases species used by Native Americans and early European colonists.

  • Wildlife Food Forest (funded by a 2022 grant from One Tree Planted)

Gazebo, Benches and Trail Marking

We have a number of trailside features including

  • A Gazebo for bird watching

  • Benches for rest and contemplation

  • Trail markers highlighting our biodiversity

Working locally

Through collaboration with organizations such as our local Boy Scout Troop #28 or the Croton Lions Club, we have had a number of successful enhancements to the preserve.

  • Eagle Scout project - A Therapy Forest Area for visitors facing learning and social adjustment challenges

  • Croton Lions Club have provided us with a bench and made our visitor’s brochure including our trail map

  • Cub Scout and Boy Scout Clean Ups
