Welcome to the Jane E. Lytle Memorial Arboretum

Open hours

The Arboretum is open from dawn until dusk, 365 days a year except during severe weather conditions. Please note that the Fox Road gate closes at dusk, preventing cars from leaving the parking lot until morning.

Location

10 Fox Lane, Croton-On-Hudson, NY - See our Directions page for more info

Amenities

The Arboretum provides a number of trails including a rough hiking trail that circles the central swamp with hidden branch trails in the woods along its route. A quarter mile long wheelchair-accessible boardwalk goes through woods and across wetlands with a large gazebo on the boardwalk trail that provides opportunities for wildlife watching and photography.

Please note that there are no public restrooms or trash receptacles. The Arboretum is a Carry In, Carry Out Park. There is no municipal trash pickup so please take everything you brought with you at the end of your visit (including animal refuse bags).

Bicycles are not allowed on the trails. Please leave your bike in the rack across from the parking lot.

Fires - including barbecue grills - are prohibited.

We do not spray insecticides, so dress protectively and bring spray repellant. Dogs should be leashed and walked on cleared trails to prevent ticks.

For a full list of visitor policies and guidelines, please check our Policies page.

Animals

Please remember that the Arboretum is the animals’ home. Watch and photograph them from a distance. They depend on our plantings for food, shelter and safe nesting sites. Please don’t collect their berries, fruits or nuts.

Hunting, trapping and collecting frogs, turtles, salamanders, snakes, crayfish, insects or birds’ eggs are all prohibited. So is removing plants and foraging.
